Tournament to aid Prospect family

PROSPECT — The 3rd Annual Karen Depalma 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament is set for March.

The tournament is dedicated to the late Karen DePalma, who died in 2012 after an 11-year fight with breast cancer. DePalma’s husband, Joe, is currently battling breast cancer. The tournament is organized by Prospect Parks and Recreation to raise money to help Joe DePalma and his two children.

The tournament is March 19 at Woodland Regional High School in Beacon Falls. It’s open to boys and girls in grades six through 12. Games will be played from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for grades six through eight and from 1 to 4 p.m. for the high school-aged players. The cost is $10 per player and teams can have up to five players. Teams and individuals are welcome to sign up.

YMCA holding registration for Little Pal

NAUGATUCK — Registration opens March 1 for the Naugatuck YMCA’s Spring Little Pal League.

The co-ed league that provides boys and girls ages 11 through 14 an opportunity to improve their basketball skills while playing on an organized team. This is a competitive league and all players must have prior basketball league experience. Tryouts, which are held in April, are required to play.

All games and practices are played at the YMCA on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. For more information, call (203) 729-9622.
