Greyhounds’ ground leader

Naugatuck senior running back Antoine Sistrunk closed out his high school career rushing 29 times for 108 yards against Ansonia on Thanksgiving. Sistrunk also added a two-point conversion.

Running away with records

Woodland senior running back Sean McAllen took his final handoff of his high school career on Thanksgiving Eve and will leave the Hawks as the school leader in rushing yards at 4,831 yards and 53 rushing touchdowns. McAllen rushed for 85 yards on 22 carries in the Hawks 53-7 loss to Seymour scoring the only touchdown of the game for Woodland on a 12 yard pass from Zach Bedryczuk. McAllen finishes with a school record of 6,323 total offensive yards and second all-time with 65 touchdowns.

All-around performer

Woodland senior Coby Vaccarelli was a leader on defense and an all-around guy on offense, carrying the ball three times for 36 yards and catching a 9-yard pass in the Thanksgiving Eve battle with Seymour.

Big-play guy

Woodland senior receiver Jon Scirpo set up the Hawks’ first score Thanksgiving Eve versus Seymour by hauling in a 7-yard pass on fourth-and-three to convert the first down. Scirpo later hauled in a 33-yard catch to get Woodland into Seymour territory.

Naugy’s unsung hero

Naugatuck junior Tyler Deitelbaum has been a constant threat in the air and on the ground all season long. On Thanksgiving Day against Ansonia, Tyler scored the only Greyhounds touchdown on an 8-yard carry and finished with 67 yards rushing on 13 carries.
