Mo’s Moments of the Week

If at first you don’t succeed, try again

Woodland’s junior midfielder Sam Plasky gave the Hawks all the momentum they would need in a 3-0 win over Naugatuck Monday. Plasky wound up and sent a blast towards the Naugy goal with time running out in the half. The ball was deflected and Plasky got a second try and lifted one high and over the top of the Naugy goal keeper.

Now you see it, now you don’t

Woodland senior midfielder Alexa Casimiro scored the clincher in a 3-0 win over Naugy on Monday. Casimiro received a pass outside to the edge of the box with a pile up out in front of the Naugy goal. She somehow got her 20-yard shot to go through a throng of players and into the goal.

Tie goes to the swimmer

Sarah Bryden has been a consistent double winner for the Woodland girls swim team. In last Wednesday’s match up with Naugy the races were so close she had to settle for a rarity in swimming tying for first place in the 100 freestyle.

Cara Rotatori has swam to victory in every meet this season for Naugatuck. In last Wednesday’s meet with Woodland she touched the wall at the same time as Sarah Bryden settling for a rare tie in the 100 freestyle.

Won by a mile

Naugatuck’s Grady Beasley didn’t exactly win the cross country race on Tuesday by a country mile but he did post the best time of the season in the NVL. He posted a 16:02 on the 3 mile course at Torrington almost a full half a minute ahead of the competition.
