Naugatuck Valley League tournaments are wrapping up, and heating up.

On Saturday, the Woodland girls tennis team faced Watertown in the tournament final at Woodland. The No. 2-seeded Hawks, the defending NVL champs, fell to No. 4 Watertown, 5-2.

Woodland’s No. 1 singles player Allison Mayne defeated Ava Kaverud, 8-5, and remains undefeated entering the individual tournament this week. The No. 3 doubles team of Angelina Padilla and Alex Pettas picked up the other point for Woodland, beating Christina Barkow and Alyssa Clifford, 8-2.

Naugatuck and Woodland both fell Saturday on the road in the NVL softball quarterfinals.

No. 6 Naugatuck fell, 6-0, to No. 3 Torrington. The Greyhounds notched four hits versus the Red Raiders.

The No. 8-seeded Hawks ran up against top-seeded Oxford, which topped Woodland, 4-1. Stephanie Kiley allowed six hits, and Cam Caswell hit a fourth-inning home run for the Hawks’ lone run.

No. 7 Naugatuck traveled to Bristol on Saturday to take on No. 2 St. Paul in the quarterfinals of the NVL baseball tournament. The Greyhounds fell, 11-3, to St. Paul. Jovanni Torres hit a solo home run and an RBI single for Naugatuck (11-10). Spencer Dreher added two singles and an RBI.
