Sharrieff Grice waited six months to officially become a Boston College Eagle. The wait appears worth it after the Kingswood-Oxford senior and Naugatuck resident signed a national letter of intent with BC on Feb. 4.

The 6-foot-1, 208-pounder is slated to play outside linebacker and has a good chance to play right away under former Cheshire High coach Steve Addazio.

“So far, things are looking very bright,” Grice said. “No. 1, Boston College has an extremely young team and the coaches have been in my ear about that. Specifically, there is only one other (returning) person at that position, so providing things go well in training camp, I could see time on the field as a freshman. Regardless of playing time or not, I’m determined to do my best.

“Coach Addazio called me and said that the team has a bright future and I have bright future.”

A three-time All-New England prep selection, Grice will report to BC on June 22. Grice initially attended Naugatuck High as a freshman, then transferred to Sacred Heart in Waterbury for his sophomore year. He then opted for prep school, repeating his sophomore year at the K-O campus in West Hartford.
