Naugy notes

Boys swimming

Naugatuck got back in the pool Tuesday after a long winter break and beat Seymour 84-77 to improve to 4-1 on the season. Events winners for Naugy were Brian Goggin in the 200 freestyle (2:02.19), Martin Lippai in the 200 IM (2:24.25), Evan Bombery in the 50 freestyle (25.57) and 500 freestyle (5:26.08), Omari Solomon in the 100 freestyle (56.19) as well as the 200 medley relay (Solomon, Nicholas Fox, Colby Storm, Bombery) and 200 freestyle relay (Goggin, Ryan Nicholas, Michael Cocchiola, Lippai) squads. The Seymour meet kicked off a three-week period of two meets a week for Naugy. The Greyhounds host Oxford on Friday before a meet versus Wilby and Holy Cross Tuesday.

Indoor track

The Greyhounds continue to prep for the upcoming NVL championships in early February. Naugy will compete in an NVL developmental meet and the Yale Classic Invitational this weekend.

Word from the Woods

Boys swimming

Woodland returned to action after winter break Jan. 7 and fell to Northwestern 92-70. Event winners for Woodland were Aidan Music in the 200 IM (2:13.81) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.08), and Alyssa Varesio in the 100 backstroke (1:41.83). The 400 free relay squad of Julie Hinckley, Chase Chura, Patrick Conway and Jake Stow also won the event in 4:28.52. The Hawks’ meet versus Kennedy last Friday was postponed due to a snow day. Woodland is set to host Wilby on Friday and travel to Seymour on Tuesday.
