BEACON FALLS — Registration is now open for the inaugural Valley Dodgeball Classic to be held May 31 at Woodland Regional High School.

The dodgeball tournament is a combined fundraiser for the WRHS Alumni Association, The Susie Foundation and Beacon Hose Co. No. 1.

The tournament is open to everyone ages 15 and older. Teams must have at least six players but no more than 10 — tournament games are 6-on-6 — with an entry fee of $20 per player. The fee includes a free event T-shirt and a free lunch provided by Wing It On! restaurants, and can be paid anytime through the morning of the event.

Team check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the event, while the opening ceremony will be at 10 a.m. and the tournament will begin at 10:30 a.m. All teams are guaranteed three games in pool play, and the top 16 teams will advance to a single-elimination tournament. The championship game is tentatively set for 5:30 p.m.

Event organizers hope to attract local high school football teams, fire departments, businesses and weekend warriors. The event will also include raffles and prizes (for best uniforms and team name) and the winning team will receive the Chief Roger Brennan Memorial Trophy.

Registration can be done online at www.TheSusieFoundation.org. Those interested can also join the Facebook event (“The Valley Dodgeball Classic”). In addition, the event organizers are seeking local businesses and organizations to sponsor and/or make donations for the event.
