Naugatuck Basketball Association holds all-star game
“We are grateful to Post University for allowing our players, parents and fans to have an opportunity to play on a college basketball floor. It was very exciting for the players in a great day for the league,” said association Commissioner Kevin McSherry in a statement.
The association, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, is an organized basketball league for high school age teens in Naugatuck. The league currently has 13 teams and 170 players.
The All-Star Day featured the A squad all-star game, the B squad all-star game, 3-point shooting contests for both squads and a coaches game.
In the day’s first game, the Ron Ruby All-Stars defeated the Mike Bisson All-Stars, 40-38. Michael Campos led all scorers with 10 points and Michael Antidormi had eight points for the Ron Ruby All-Stars. Terry Noss (seven points) and Aaron Johnson (six points) led the Mike Bisson All-Stars.
The Brian Divito All-Stars won the A squad all-star game over the John Minicucci All-Stars. Jamie Mashia (12 points) and Evan Alsdorf (eight points) led the Brian Divito All-Stars as Tyler Hayward (eight points) and Deyonte Butler (14 points) led the John Minicucci All-Stars.
Zach Cordero won the B squad 3-point contest with seven made shots and Sean Brunswick won the A squad 3-point contest with ten made shots.
The league is continuing its season and plays at the gym at Hillside Intermediate School in Naugatuck.
