The Woodland and Naugatuck girls soccer teams are set to meet again in the Naugatuck Valley League tournament semifinals after both teams cruised to victories in last Saturday’s quarterfinals.

The No. 1 Hawks (16-1) stayed unbeaten in NVL play by pitching another shutout against No. 8 St. Paul in a 3-0 victory at Wolcott High.

Keri DeBiase, Savannah Aviz and Jess Rodrigues all scored for Woodland while Alaina Neddermann and Kristen Laliberte contributed assists. Alma Rizvani only needed two saves to preserve her 14th shutout of the season.

No. 4 Naugatuck (10-5-1) had an even easier time in its 4-0 victory over No. 5 Torrington at Watertown High.

Alexya Alves netted two goals, Steph Lima chipped in with a goal and an assist, and Taylor Campo contributed a goal. Kelly Koslosky and Katarina Gullotta also earned assists while Cailah Baranowski posted eight saves.

Superstorm Sandy forced the postponement of the semifinals to Thursday. Woodland and Naugatuck will meet Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Wolcott High.

The Hawks shut out Naugatuck 3-0 in the teams’ only regular-season matchup Oct. 8.

The winner will advance to the league final, which is scheduled for Saturday at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury.
