BEACON FALLS — The Robert Cole Beacon Falls Little League 8-year-old Future Stars recently completed an undefeated run in a round robin tournament featuring opponents from Ansonia, Seymour and Derby.

The Beacon Falls Future Stars played a home and away series and finished the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record for head coach Tom Deegan.

“We faced some stiff competition down the lower valley from Ansonia, Seymour, and Derby,” Deegan said. “The kids did a great job working together as a team. We had solid pitching, timely hitting and an excellent defense.”

Pitching was the key the first time through the schedule as the Future Stars allowed just seven runs in three games while putting 23 runs on the scoreboard.

Jayden Tomasella, Tyler Ciavarella, and Nate Bodnar combined their efforts on the hill holding Ansonia to just three runs. Beacon Falls went on to post a 7-3 victory with Ben Brooks, Bodnar and Tomasella leading the attack with two hits each. Dakota Palange broke the tight game open belting a two-run single.

Beacon Falls received the best pitching performance of the tournament when Tomasella and Ciavarella teamed up to throw a no-hitter at Seymour in a 7-0 win.

Tyler Lato and Matt Gunnison got the big hits with Caleb Shea, Riley Murricio, and Palange crossing the plate for the Future Stars.

Beacon Falls closed out the first round of the tournament undefeated with a 3-0 record after an impressive 9-4 offensive display against Derby. Gunnison played exceptional defense behind the plate to back up the strong pitching from Bodnar and Matt Koliani.

Timely hitting keyed the offensive outburst against Derby with Matt Deegan leading the way with two hits and three RBI. Tomasella and Ciavarella both contributed two-run hits for the Future Stars.

While the pitching carried the load in the first three games the offense kicked it up a notch in the final round of games. Beacon Falls allowed eight runs over the last three games but exploded for 29 runs.

Anderson got the start on the hill against Ansonia and the Future stars backed him up piling on an 11-5 win. Koliani, Deegan and Brooks each had two hits and two runs batted in to lead the onslaught. Isaiah Shea added a hit and a run scored.

Beacon Falls broke open a tight game against Seymour sending five runs across the dish in the third inning on the way to a 9-3 win. Riley Murricio led the defense behind the plate.

Anderson and Deegan had two hits and two RBI to lead the attack. Ciavarella got the big hit, belting a triple and scoring in the third-inning uprising.

Tomasella and Bodnar combined to pitch a shutout in a 9-0 win over Derby with Murricio making a great catch to keep the opposition scoreless.

Caleb Shea belted a home run to lead the attack with Anderson adding a hit and two runs scored.
