State tournament matchups released
Pairings for the spring state tournaments were released by the CIAC Friday morning and most area squads will be in action when the tourneys start Tuesday.
In baseball, Naugatuck (12-8 regular season) earned the 17th seed in Class LL and will travel to No. 16 Windsor (12-8) June 1 at 3:30 p.m. Woodland (13-7) gained the 15th seed in Class M and hosts No. 18 Windham Tech (13-7) June 1 at 3:30 p.m.
In softball, the Greyhounds (14-6) are the No. 11 seed in Class L and host No. 21 Masuk (9-11) June 1 at 4 p.m. The Hawks (17-3) are seeded fifth in Class M and will host No. 28 New London (9-11) June 1 at 4 p.m.
In girls’ tennis, Naugatuck (16-2) earned the No. 2 seed in Class L and awaits the winner of the opening round matchup between Norwich Free Academy and Cheshire, which the Hounds will host June 1 at 3 p.m. Woodland (18-1) is the No. 3 seed in Class S and will host the winner of the Lewis Mills-Holy Cross opening round match June 1 at 3 p.m. State Open pairings will be released June 2.
Qualifiers for the Class L and Class M outdoor track meets will be officially posted Friday night. The Greyhounds will compete at the Class L meet June 2 at Willowbrook Park in New Britain while the Hawks will travel to the Class M competition June 2 at Manchester High School.
Pairings for the boys’ tennis Class L and Class M individual tournaments will be released June 2.
