Broadcasters association offering scholarship

WILLIMANTIC — The Connecticut Broadcasters Association (CBA) is accepting applications for its 2012 scholarship awards.

Up to $100,000 in scholarship grants will be presented in this year’s program. Scholarships will range from one-year grants of $2,500 to $5,000, to the “Paul K. Taff Scholarship,” which awards a total of $10,000 in grants over a four-year period.

To be eligible, a candidate must be a Connecticut resident; pursuing a career in broadcasting, communications, marketing, engineering, or electronics; attending or planning to attend any in-state or out-of-state university, college, two-year community college or technical college; entering their first, second, third or fourth year of college, including high school students who plan to graduate in June 2012.

Awarding of scholarships is based upon the basis of need and/or demonstrated talent. Considered will be the individual’s broadcasting goals, current academic average, extra-curricular activities involving the electronic media, need and recommendations from faculty, employers and others and/or on the basis of need. Financial need documentation is required.
