Police-badgeThe Naugatuck Police Department reported the following arrests:

ELWOOD VANVALKENBURGH JR., 44, of 709 Maple Hill Road, Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 20 with failure to appear in the second degree.

Police reported on Jan. 20 at approximately 11:01 a.m. VanValkenburgh was arrested on an active arrest warrant. VanValkenburgh was given a court date of Jan. 21 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a $5,000 surety bond.

TAYLOR KOLO, 22, of 343 North Main St., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 20 with weapons in vehicles.

Police reported on Jan. 20 at approximately 2:59 p.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on Calvin Street. Kolodziej and another man were found to be in possession of a BB gun, which was located in the passenger side door pocket, police reported. Kolodziej was given a court date of Feb. 5 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.

MARK SODEN, 24, of 105 Coen St., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 20 with weapons in vehicles.

Police reported on Jan. 20 at approximately 2:59 p.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on Calvin Street. Soden and another man were found to be in possession of a BB gun, which was located in the passenger side door pocket, police reported. Soden was given a court date of Feb. 5 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.

OMAREY JOHNSON, 33, of 27 Coach Circle, Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 20 with disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Jan. 20 at approximately 9:23 p.m. officers responded to 27 Coach Circle unit 4 for a domestic disturbance between husband and wife. During an argument, police reported, Johnson slammed the bedroom door hard enough to cause damage to it. Johnson was given a court date of Jan. 21 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond.

BERNADETTE COLON, 45, of 35 Charles St., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 23 with disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Jan. 23 Colon was arrested on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was for a domestic disturbance between mother and son. During an argument, police reported, Colon hit the victim. Colon was given a court date of Jan. 24 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a promise to appear.

CARMEN ALVARADO, 29, of 1797 North Main St., Waterbury, was charged Jan. 23 with larceny in the sixth degree.

Police reported on Jan. 23 at approximately 1:53 p.m. an officer responded to Walmart for a shoplifting complaint. Police reported Alvarado stole an XBox controller and other merchandise totaling $181.73. Alvarado was given a court date of Feb. 5 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non-surety bond.

ERIC TURNER, 42, of 827 Oronoke Road, Waterbury, was charged Jan. 23 with narcotics kept only in original container and possession of controlled substance.

Police reported on Jan. 23 at approximately 4:57 p.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on Bristol Street by North Spring Street. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Turner was in possession of Endocet pills and marijuana. Turner was given a court date of Feb. 5 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non-surety bond.

CHRISTOPHER ANDERSON, 24, of 53 High St., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 23 with failure to appear in the second degree.

Police reported on Jan. 23 at approximately 7:58 p.m. Anderson was arrested on an active arrest warrant. Anderson was given a court date of Jan. 24 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $495 court-set cash bond.

LAMONT WOODS, 35, of last known address 473 Whalley Ave., New Haven, was charged Jan. 24 with reckless driving, failure to drive in proper lane, no passing zone and engaging police in pursuit.

Police reported on Jan. 24 Woods was arrested on an active arrest warrant at Waterbury Superior Court. The warrant was for a motor vehicle investigation on Dec. 16, 2013 on New Haven Road. Police reported an officer initiated a motor vehicle stop on New Haven Road. Woods drove away from the officer at a high rate of speed, police reported. Woods was given a court date of Jan. 24 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held for arraignment.

NICK ORTIZ, 34, was charged Jan. 24 with two counts of burglary in the third degree, four counts of criminal mischief in the third degree, four counts of larceny in the sixth degree and two counts of criminal trespass in the second degree.

AMER YOUSEF, 34, of 505 Spring St., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 24 with disorderly conduct and interfering with an emergency call.

Police reported on Jan. 24 at approximately 6:45 p.m. officers responded to 505 North Spring St. Apt 1 for a domestic disturbance between family members. During an argument, police reported, Yousef grabbed the victim by the shirt and pulled her. When a family member attempted to call the police Yousef grabbed the phone from his hands, police reported. Yousef was given a court date of Jan. 27 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.

SCOTT GROTYOHANN, 58, of 269 Wedgewood Drive, Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 24 with evading responsibility motor vehicle and insurance coverage fails minimum requirements.

Police reported on Jan. 24 at approximately 8:28 p.m. officers responded to 290 Wedgewood Drive for an evading motor vehicle accident. Police reported Grotyohann struck a parked vehicle and left the scene. Grotyohann was later located at his residence. Grotyohann was given a court date of Feb. 6 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non-surety bond.

MICHAEL CLIFFORD, 33, of 17 Hazel Ave., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 25 with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree.

Police reported on Jan. 25 at approximately 6:01 p.m. officers responded to 17 Hazel Ave. for a domestic disturbance between brothers. During an argument, police reported, Clifford punched the victim several times. Clifford was given a court date of Jan. 27 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a $2,500 surety bond.

SARAH ANGLIS, 39, of 1456 Stafford Ave., Bristol, was charged Jan. 25 with hiring an unregistered salesperson and failure to refund deposit.

Police reported on Jan. 25 at approximately 12:40 p.m. Anglis turned herself in on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was for larceny reported on July 25, 2013. Police reported Anglis owns a business that took a $5,000 deposit from the victim to do work on the victim’s home. Police reported Anglis never started the construction project. Anglis was given a court date of Feb. 5 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $1,000 cash bond.

RONALD RINALDI, 32, of 407 Shaddock Road, Middlebury, was charged Jan. 26 with evading responsibility and traveling unreasonably fast.

Police reported on Jan. 26 Rinaldi turned himself in on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was for an evading motor vehicle accident that occurred on Dec. 30, 2013 on Webb Road. Police reported Rinaldi struck a utility pole and left the scene. Rinaldi was given a court date of Feb. 5 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $1,500 non-surety bond.

MARIO GERMAN, 36, of 729 High St., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 26 with evading responsibility motor vehicle, operation of motor vehicle when registration or license is refused, suspended or revoked, insurance coverage fails minimum requirements and failure to drive at reasonable distance.

Police reported on Jan. 26 at approximately 5:09 p.m. German was arrested on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was for an evading motor vehicle accident that occurred on Jan. 1, 2014 on New Haven Road. Police reported German struck another vehicle and drove from the scene without providing his information to victim. German was given a court date of Feb. 6 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non-surety bond.

DEMETRIS JARRETT, 18, of 66 Lantern Park Drive, Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 26 with breach of peace and criminal mischief in the third degree.

Police reported on Jan. 26 at approximately 12:15 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance between boyfriend and juvenile girlfriend. During an argument, police reported, the pair began to push each other. Jarrett then kicked holes in the hallway walls, police reported. Jarret was given a court date of Jan. 27 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond.

GREGORY HARRISON, 52, of 248 Church St., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 26 with disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer.

Police reported on Jan. 26 at approximately 5:43 p.m. officers responded to 284 Church St. for a disturbance. The officers began to speak to Harrison, who was acting in a strange manner. Harrison was walking in the hallways shaking the door handles of tenants rooms, police reported. When speaking with the officers Harrison was uncooperative and tried to move past the officers, police reported. When he was being placed under arrest Harrison became aggressive and grabbed at the officer’s hand, police reported. Harrison was given a court date of Feb. 5 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a $2,500 non-surety bond.

MARK HANSON, 33, of 247 North Main St., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 27 with illegal possession of narcotic.

Police reported on Jan. 27 at approximately 8:50 p.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on North Main Street. During the investigation, police reported, Hanson was found to be in possession of Diazepam pills. Hanson was given a court date of Feb. 5 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.

THOMAS FOGARTY, 36, of 56 Woodland Park, Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 27 with identity theft in the third degree, forgery in the third degree and larceny in the fifth degree.

Police reported on Jan. 27 at approximately 7:46 p.m. Fogarty turned himself in on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was for a larceny reported on Aug. 21, 2013. Police reported Fogarty stole and forged the victim’s signature to a check for the amount of $765. Fogarty was given a court date of Feb. 12 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $5,000 court-set surety bond.

CHRISTIAN MARTINEZ, 22, of 16 Hoadley St., Naugatuck, was charged Jan. 27 with disorderly conduct and risk of injury to child.

Police reported on Jan. 27 at approximately 9:18 p.m. an officer investigated a domestic disturbance. During an argument, police reported, Martinez pushed the victim who was holding her granddaughter. Martinez was given a court date of Jan. 28 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.

NAOMI CRUTCHFIELD, 55, of 52 Tyler Crossing, Middlebury, was charged Jan. 28 with failure to appear in the second degree.

Police reported on Jan. 28 Crutchfield was arrested on an active arrest warrant. Crutchfield was given a court date of Jan. 28 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a $500 court-set bond.
