Naugatuck police blotter: breach of peace

The Naugatuck Police Department reported the following arrests:

JOYCE CALIGAN, 54, of 139 Lewis St., Naugatuck, was charged Oct. 22 with breach of peace.

The report was not completed as of this post.

JILL MACLEAN, 28, of 74 Greenwood Str., Watertown, was charged Oct. 23 with criminal violation of protective order and breach of peace.

Police reported on Oct. 23 at approximately 1:31 a.m. the Watertown Police Department was holding MacLean on an active arrest warrant. MacLean was transported to the Naugatuck Police Department for processing. Police reported the warrant was for a domestic disturbance between former boyfriend and girlfriend reported on Sept. 12, 2012. MacLean arrived at the home of the victim’s friend and stayed outside the home yelling at the victim and his friend, who remained in the home, police reported. MacLean was given a court date of Oct. 23 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a $1,500 court-set bond.

JOHN ARESTA, 44, of 145 High St., Naugatuck, was charged Oct. 23 with driving under the influence, failure to stop on right, and failure to drive upon right.

Police reported on Oct. 23 at approximately 12:57 a.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on High Street. When the officer initiated the stop on Carroll Street Aresta continued to drive 200 yards until he stopped in his driveway, police reported. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Aresta was operating under the influence of alcohol. Aresta was given a court date of Nov. 1 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 surety bond.

JOSEPH LOWDEN, 49, of 15 Maple Terrace, Naugatuck, was charged Oct. 23 with criminal trespass in the first degree, breach of peace, and harassment in the second degree.

Police reported on Oct. 23 at approximately 12:31 p.m. officers where dispatched to 9 Division St. for a suspicious person complaint. Lowden was previously advised not to call or enter the property of the Tender Years Preschool. Police reported Lowden left several voice mails to the business. On Oct. 23, police reported, Lowden tried to enter the school, which was placed in a lock down status due to Lowden being on the property. Lowden was given a court date of Oct. 24 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a $50,000 surety bond.

WILLIAM SCHREIER, 44, of 137 Lewis St., Naugatuck, was charged Oct. 23 with assault in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, and breach of peace.

Police reported on Oct. 23 at 5:37 p.m. officers responded to 139 Lewis St. for an assault. Police reported Schreier turned off the electrical power to one of the units. The victim’s friend confronted Schreier and Schreier punched the victim, police reported. Schreier also hit the victim on the back with a 2-by-4, police reported. Schreier was given a court date of Oct. 24 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a $10,000 surety bond.

CRAIG AMARO, 27, of 74 Spencer St., Naugatuck, was charged Oct. 23 with driving under the influence, failure to register motor vehicle eligible for commercial registration, and failure to drive in proper lane.

Police reported on Oct. 23 at approximately 1:47 a.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on South Main Street. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Amaro was operating under the influence of alcohol. Amaro was given a court date of Nov. 8 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non-surety bond.

SCOTT POWELL, 25, of 95 Fern St., Naugatuck, was charged Oct. 24 with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in the third degree.

Police reported on Oct. 24 at approximately 1:08 a.m. officers responded to 95 Fern Street apt. 6 for a domestic disturbance between roommates. During an argument, police reported, Powell damaged the victim’s bedroom door. Powell was given a court date of Oct. 24 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a $1,000 surety bond.

NICHOLAS KISH, 30, of 95 Bluebird Drive, Naugatuck, was charged Oct. 24 with larceny in the third degree and criminal mischief in the first degree.

Police reported on Oct. 24 Kish was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from an incident that occurred on Sept. 10, 2012. Kish was involved in an incident where equipment was broken into and stolen from the loading docks of the Naugatuck Stop & Shop store located at 727 Rubber Ave., police reported. Kish was scheduled to appear in Waterbury court on Oct. 25.
