The Naugatuck Police Department reported the following arrests:

JERMAINE BURKE, 30, of 134 Stonefield Drive, Waterbury, was charged July 2 with assault in the third degree and breach of peace.

Police reported on July 2 Burke was arrested on an active arrest warrant while he was attending Waterbury Superior Court. The warrant was for a domestic disturbance that occurred on June 28, 2012. During an argument, police reported, Burke grabbed the victim by the neck causing abrasions to the left side her neck. Burke was held for arraignment on a $50,000 court-set bond.

THOMAS JONES, 21, of 99B Karen Court, Bridgeport, was charged July 2 with breach of peace and two counts of violation of probation.

Police reported on July 2 at approximately 10:19 a.m. officers responded to Church Street for a domestic disturbance between boyfriend, Jones, and girlfriend, a juvenile. During an argument in a public, Jones pulled the girl’s hair, police reported. The girl kicked Jones in the face. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Jones was wanted on two active arrest warrants. Jones was given a court date of July 3 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court.

CORY LEONARD, 34, of 26 Dorman Road, Oxford, was charged July 2 with leaving child under 12 unsupervised in public place or motor vehicle.

Police reported on July 2 at approximately 5:40 p.m. officers responded to Dutchess Restaurant parking lot for a child left unattended in a motor vehicle. Leonard left his child in a motor vehicle while he was inside the establishment, police reported. Leonard was given a court date of July 3 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond.

DONALD BENAITIS, 44, of 129 Millville Ave., Naugatuck, was charged July 2 with failure to appear in the first degree, criminal violation of protective order, and failure to appear in the second degree

Police reported on July 2 at approximately 10:21 p.m. Benaitis was arrested on three active arrest warrants. Benaitis was given a court date of July to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held a court-set surety bond.

RAYMOND KOSMA, 22, of 105 Wooster St., Naugatuck, was charged July 3 with failure to respond to payable violation and failure to appear in the second degree.

Police reported on July 3 at approximately 2:35 p.m. Kosma was arrested on two active arrest warrants. Kosma was given a court date of July 11 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a court-set cash bond.

SHANE CROSSLAND, 39, of 53 Conrad St., Naugatuck, was charged July 3 with driving under the influence, illegal operation of motor vehicle under suspension, improper signaling, threatening, disorderly conduct, and risk of injury to a child.

Police reported on July 3 at approximately 10:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to Conrad Street for a domestic disturbance between mother and son. During an argument, police reported, Crossland kicked open a door hitting the victim in the right shoulder. Crossland yelled at the victim and threatened to harm her, police reported. The altercation was witnessed by the victim’s grandchildren. Crossland left the area in the mother’s vehicle, police reported, and an officer initiated a motor vehicle stop on Bridge Street. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Crossland was operating under the influence of alcohol. The accused was given a court date of July 5 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a total $6,000 surety bond.

RAJESH PATEL, 51, of 62 Pond View Drive, Watertown, was charged July 4 with restricted turn, failure to drive in proper lane, operating motor vehicle at too slow speed, failure to renew registration, drinking while operating a motor vehicle, and driving under the influence.

Police reported on July 4 at approximately 1:59 a.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on the Route 8 North off-ramp to exit 28. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Patel was operating under the influence of alcohol. Patel was given a court date of July 19 and released on a $500 surety bond.

ROBERTO ZURLO, 37, of 170 Lincoln Ave., Bridgeport, was charged July 4 with driving under the influence, unsafe movement of stopped, standing, or parked motor vehicle, and carrying firearm while under the influence.

Police reported on July 4 at approximately 1:58 a.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on Meadow Street. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Zurlo was operating under the influence of alcohol. Zurlo was found to be in possession of a firearm, police reported. Zurlo was given a court date of July 19 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a total $1,500 surety bond.
