Naugatuck police blotter: assault
The Naugatuck Police Department reported the following arrests:
STEVEN CHANDLER, 22, of 154 Prospect St., Naugatuck, was charged April 30 with assaulting public safety/emergency personnel, assault in the third degree, and breach of peace.
Police reported on April 26 at 1:02 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of 982 New Haven Road for a disturbance. At that time officers found a group of individuals trying to calm Chandler down. The group had been out for the evening and were on the way home when Chandler became augmentative and agitated, police reported. Attempts to calm Chandler failed and police were called. Further attempts to calm Chandler failed and he became combative with officers, police reported. Chandler was transported to Waterbury Hospital for his condition and during transport he assaulted a paramedic on board the ambulance. Chandler was arrested by warrant on April 30 and held on a $5,000 bond.
DOREEN TEDESCO, 50, of 207 Fairchild Ave., Fairfield, was charged April 30 with disorderly conduct.
Police reported on April 30 at 2:17 pm officers were dispatched to Marsh Hill Road on a report of a domestic disturbance between Tedesco and another family member. Investigation revealed Tedesco had been leaving threatening messages on the family member’s answering machine and showed up at the residence on April 30, police reported. During a dispute, police reported, Tedesco punched the family member in the mouth. Tedesco was given a court date of May 1 and was released on a $1,000 bond.
RICHARD HOLLAND, 32, of 276 North Hoadley St., Naugatuck, was charged May 1 with assault in the third degree, disorderly conduct, and criminal violation of a protective order.
Police reported on May 1 at approximately 12:05 p.m. Cheshire police were holding Holland on an active arrest warrant out of Naugatuck. Holland was transported to the Naugatuck Police Department for processing. The warrant was for a domestic disturbance reported on Feb. 24, 2012 between boyfriend and girlfriend. During an argument, police reported, Holland punched the victim causing a contusion and a small abrasion on the victim’s forehead. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Holland violated a protective order. Holland was given a court date of May 2 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $10,000 surety bond.
RALPH ONOFRIO, 60, of 7 Deerfield St., East Haven, was charged May 1 with evading responsibility motor vehicle.
Police reported on May 1 at approximately 4:05 p.m. Onofrio turned himself in on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was for an evading motor vehicle accident on Great Hill Road, which was reported on April 13, 2012. Onofrio backed into a parked vehicle in the parking lot of 259 Great Hill Road and then drove away, police reported. Minor damage was reported. Onofrio was given a court date of May 10 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court. and released on a promise to appear.
HOWARD ODELL, 22, of 34 Gruber Road, Beacon Falls, was charged May 1 with larceny in the sixth degree.
Police reported on May 1 at approximately 3:49 p.m. an officer responded to Walmart for a larceny complaint. Odell stole pajama pants, a first response pregnancy test, and hair coloring products, which were valued at $42.80, police reported. Odell was given a court date of May 10 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non-surety bond.
BRENDA OSORIO, 23, of 126 Walnut St., Waterbury, was charged May 2 with assault in the third degree and conspiracy at robbery in the second degree.
Police reported on May 2 at approximately 4:45 p.m. Waterbury police were holding Osorio on an active warrant out of Naugatuck. Osorio was transported to the Naugatuck Police Department for processing. The warrant was for an assault reported on Dec. 2, 2010. Police reported Osorio was with her friend who was involved in an argument with the victim. During the argument, police reported, Osorio held the victim while her friend punched the victim. Osorio’s friend then stole the victim’s phone. Osorio was given a court date of May 16 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a court-set $10,000 surety bond.
DONAT POIRIER, 27, of 297 North Hoadley St., Naugatuck, was charged May 3 with false statement in the second degree, falsely reporting an incident in the second degree, false report of motor vehicle theft, and illegal operation of motor vehicle under suspension.
Police reported on May 3 Waterbury police were holding Poirier on an active arrest warrant out of Naugatuck. Poirier was transported to the Naugatuck Police Department for processing. The warrant was for an incident that occurred on Feb. 19, 2012. Police reported Poirier reported that his vehicle was stolen. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Poirier gave a false statement to hide the fact that he was involved in a one car motor vehicle accident on Route 8 and left the scene. Poirier was given a court date of May 16 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 surety bond.
