NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Leona Laura (Cyr) Rice, 77, of Naugatuck, passed away late Sunday evening Feb. 2, 22014, at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Carl T. Rice, who passed away in 1997 after 39 years of marriage.
Mrs. Rice was born in Fall River, Mass. on Feb. 7, 1936, a daughter of the late Abel and Laura (Robin) Cyr and was educated in the Fall River school system. She was a graduate of Durfee High School in Fall River and moved to Naugatuck in 1981. She retired in 2007 from Coyne Industries of Waterbury with over 27 years of service and was a communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Church.
She leaves one son, Carl F. Rice, of Spotsylvania, Va., and one daughter, Beverly Clark of Naugatuck; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Carl, she was predeceased by another son, John T. Rice.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at 10 a.m. in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., is assisting the family with the arrangements.
