NAUGATUCK — Mr. John B. Beloin, 85, of Naugatuck, formerly of Bristol, passed away at Saint Mary’s Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Jean (Sabio) Morrow Beloin.

Mr. Beloin was born in Bristol on Feb. 28, 1928, son of the late Arthur and Nellie (Aquista) Beloin. He was a longtime Bristol resident before moving to Naugatuck where he has lived for the past 10 years. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II and a retiree from the Bristol Post Office where he worked for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 17 and Elks Lodge 967 in Naugatuck.

Besides his wife he leaves his daughters, Mary Ellen Morton and her husband Anthony, Hollis Laviero and her husband Daniel R. Laviero all of Bristol; two grandchildren, Melissa D’Orazio, Amanda Hoften and her husband Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Ryleigh Hoften; four step-sons, Francis Morrow and his partner Ted Achenbach of Harrisburg, Pa., Michael Morrow of Naugatuck, Steven Morrow and his wife Cheryl of Florida, Douglas Morrow of Harwinton; two step-daughters, Linda Clavette and her husband Ken, and Kathleen Morrow all of Naugatuck; 12 step-grandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter; his step-brother-in-law, James Sabio and his wife Linda of Naugatuck; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Brock D’Orazio and sister, Lee Zaremba.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Str., Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church at 8:45 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Terryville Avenue, Bristol. Calling hours will be held at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Members of the Naugatuck Veteran’s Council will assemble at 7:15 p.m. The Elk’s ritual will be held at 7:30 p.m.
