NAUGATUCK — James Arthur Regan, Jr., 78, passed away on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family after battling cancer. He was the husband of Lorraine (Donnelly) Regan.

He was born on May 12, 1935 in Naugatuck, a son of the late James and Irene (Connelly) Regan. At 15, James, started to work at Naugatuck Well Drilling with his father, and was the founder of J.A. Regan & Son, which led him to work with his son Mike for many years. He loved to fly airplanes, and enjoyed listening to Bluegrass, and growing tomatoes. He was a proud member of the Prospect Gun Club, where he was a range officer.

Besides his wife of 51 years, James is survived by his two sons, James A. Regan, III and his wife, Thai, Michael J. Regan and his wife, Jennifer; his grandson, James A. Regan IV and two step-grandchildren, Deanna and Jacob. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Richards and Kathleen Nelson. James will be missed by all family members and friends, especially Ron Waranowicz and his grand dog Bella.

The family would like to thank the VNA Hospice staff, especially Bridget, for the extraordinary care given to James during his fight.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
