NAUGATUCK — Miss Arline Elizabeth Lundin, 95, of Naugatuck, passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 20, 2013, at the Middlebury Convalescent Home.

Arline lived her entire life in the home in which she was born in Naugatuck, on Oct. 6, 1918, a daughter of the late Alfred E. and Emma C. (Ostrom) Lundin and was educated in the local school system. She was a graduate of Naugatuck High School, Class of 1936 and trained as an LPN at Waterbury Hospital, continuing her training at Columbian-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. She was a baby’s and children’s nurse, caring especially for newborns in and around Fairfield County and the Waterbury and Naugatuck area. Later, Arline did private nursing for family members and friends. She was also employed as a production worker in the Footwear Division of the former U.S. Rubber Co. (afterward known as Uniroyal, Inc.) from the late 1930s through the early 1960s.

Miss Lundin was a lifelong member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, but for the past few years had been attending the Northfield Bible Church in Northfield. She enjoyed spending time with her family and neighbors, and was considered by all a wonderful Swedish Scandinavian cook.

Arline leaves one sister, Elna L. Blake of Naugatuck and two nieces, June E. Blake and Beryl L. Montville, both of Naugatuck. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen L. Bjorklund; two brothers, Arnold F. Lundin, and Burton A. Lundin, and a niece, Elaine L. Rook.

A memorial service for Arline will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Northfield Bible Church, 10 Camp Hill Road, Northfield, (From Route 8 north, Exit 38, Route 254 north ), with the Pastor Brian E. McGray, officiating. At the convenience of the family, burial will be in Grove Cemetery, in the spring. Family and friends may call at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.
