WATERBURY — Eleanor J. “Ellie” Pater, formerly of Melrose Avenue, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at Aurora Senior Living of Bucks Hill.

Eleanor was born Aug. 23, 1930, daughter of the late Joseph and Stephanie C. (Kalinowski) Pater. She attended St. Mary’s Grammar School. After graduating from Waterbury Catholic High School, Ellie worked for several companies, including Davis & Nye, Clark & Lombardi Office Supply Company, and most recently Farmingbury Financial Services.

Ellie was a devoted communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, where she a Eucharistic minister and trustee for many years, parish council member and bingo volunteer. She was awarded the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation by the Archdiocese of Hartford on March 6, 2005 for her dedication to the parish.

She is survived by her cousin and godchild, Diana Levanti of Wolcott and her daughter, Melissa Levanti of Boston, Mass.; her special aunt, Stasia Pater of Wolcott; cousins Edward Pater of Wolcott, Gertrude Bienkowski and children Laurie, Edward and Donna, all of Florida, Charles Pilkewich of Naugatuck; and very best friends Theresa and Joe Vaccarelli, Mary and Bob Swift, Emily and Al Couch, Marie Mastropietro, Nick Tetreault and Aaron Schroeder.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 86 East Farm St., Waterbury for a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, East Main Street, Waterbury. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
