Obit-CandleOXFORD — Arlene H. Brooks, 66, of Oxford, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully at CT Hospice in Branford on Friday, June 28, 2013, after a long, strong willed and courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur J. Brooks.

Arlene was born in Derby, daughter of the late Lewis and Lorna (Hessler) Hale. She was raised in Seymour and was a graduate of Seymour High School. She has resided at her beloved home in Oxford for the past 43 years. She was a proud, dedicated wife and mother. Arlene was an extremely loving and selfless person. Her first love was her family. She cherished every moment that was spent with them, including her four-legged family. Some of her passions included cooking and gardening. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathlene Brooks of Oxford; her son, William J. Brooks, Sr. and his wife Amy of Beacon Falls; her adored grandchildren Casey, Benjamin, and William Brooks, Jr., all of Beacon Falls; her sister, Noreen Burleigh and her husband Dennis of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and her sister-in-law, Arlene Brooks of Seymour.
She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Richard Molleur, Melissa Setaro, Brett Burleigh, and Jaclynn Burleigh. She was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Vivian Molleur.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 2 at 9:15 a.m. at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home, 47 Washington Ave., Seymour for a 10 a.m. mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Oxford Road, Oxford. Interment will be in Great Hill Cemetery Seymour.
