NAUGATUCK — Mr. Vincent R. DiBenedictis, 76, of Naugatuck, peacefully passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Glendale Center after a long illness. He was the wife of Penelope A. (Wityak) DiBenedictis.

Mr. DiBenedictis was born in Waterbury on Oct. 30, 1936, a son of the late Vincent F. and Elizabeth (Schultz) DiBenedictis. He was a lifelong Naugatuck resident and a Navy veteran serving four years on the U.S.S. English destroyer. He earned his associate degree from Post College and his bachelor degree from UConn. He retired at age 55 after 32 years of service from Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, skeet and trap shooter. He was a member of the Seymour Fish and Game as well as Bristol Fish and Game. He loved animals, especially his cats and dogs.

Besides his wife of 53 years, he leaves his brother, Thomas DiBenedictis of Naugatuck; his adopted family, Robert and Kimberlee Simko and their children Zachary and Alexis.

All services are private. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck has been entrusted with his arrangements.
