CORONADO, Calif. — Capt. Lawrence J. Curtin, USN (Ret.), 90, died peacefully in Coronado, Calif. Feb. 20, 2013 surrounded by his family.

Larry was born May 5, 1922. A native of Naugatuck, Larry joined the Navy at age 17 upon his graduation from Naugatuck High School, and has been adventuring ever since including serving honorably in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

He is survived by his sister, Nora Barth of Naugatuck; six children, John of Shell Beach Calif., Nicholas of Valencia, Calif., Lisa Abrahams of Truckee, Calif., Stephen of Tucson, Ariz., Gregory of Los Angeles, Calif., Victoria Imsirovic of Newport Beach, Calif. and 12 grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, March 1 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Coronado, Calif. Cremation Services Inc., Vista, Calif., is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Village, 1501 Imperial Ave., San Diego, CA 92101.

    Larry, you will be greatly missed!! As your previous neighbors, there wasn’t a day that went by without saying hello, stoping by for a lollipop, or having you over for dinner. You were a bright soul and a wonderful person. Of course, it goes without saying that you enjoyed a good joke and laughing out loud. We love you! Brett, Cindy, Barrett & Harrison Clarke
