HOLMES BEACH, Fla. — Dorothy T. Zokas DeGennaro, 77, of Holmes Beach, Fla., formerly of Southbury, beloved wife of the late Jack DeGennaro, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at The Blake Medical Hospital, Bradenton, Fla. She was born in Bridgeport on June 6, 1935, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Ramon Lopalos.

Dorothy was a devout communicant of St. Bernard Parish of Holmes Beach, Fla., and was a member of the Senior Adventurers and as well as a literacy advocate. She received her associates degree in 1974 from Mattatuck Community College in Waterbury. She was an avid homemaker and was very proud of her Lithuanian heritage. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Her loving family includes her son, Daniel Zokas and his wife Karen of Southbury; her two daughters, Lisa Zokas-Kindy and her husband Mark of South Carolina, and Wallace Hamel and her husband Charles of Barkhamstead and her six cherished grandchildren, Jordan, Michael, Meghan, Arianne, Rasa and Chaz, as well as three nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved first husband, Walter Zokas and her sister, Ann Janson.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. directly at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. South, Southbury. Interment in the family plot at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford, will follow. Friends and relatives may call on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St., Seymour.
