SOUTHINGTON — Donald H. Olander, Sr., 75, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was husband of Lorelei (Schwarz) Olander.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Nov. 10, 1937, son of the late Lars and Lavenia (Gardner) Olander. Donald was a resident of Southington since 2008, and he had retired from Sears and Olin Mills Company after many years of service. He was an artist and model train enthusiast, and he loved his family very much.
Besides his loving wife of 47 years, he leaves two sons, Donald H. Olander, Jr. and his wife Sherri of Naugatuck and Matthew Olander and his wife Kelly of East Haddam; a daughter, Tammy Ross and her fiancé Chris Mailhot of Thomaston; four grandchildren, Stasia, Preston, Elizabeth and Grace; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at 12 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
