Obituary: Walter S. Slawski

NAUGATUCK — Mr. Walter S. “Red” Slawski, 99, of Naugatuck, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the widower of Lena M. (Whelan) Slawski.

Mr. Slawski was born in Poland on June 11, 1913, a son of the late Joseph and Stella (Dumonski) Slawski. He was a lifelong Naugatuck resident and retired after 46 years from the footwear division of Uniroyal, Inc. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and craftsman. He also enjoyed boating and building birdhouses. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.

He leaves his son, Kenneth Slawski and his wife Bernice of Waterbury; and two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a grandson.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
