ANSONIA — Mabel Jane Dural, 92, of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Federick W. Dural, died Dec. 5, 2012, with her family by her side. Born in Orange, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Gabryszewska) Petro.

She was a lifelong Ansonia resident and communicant of the Church of the Assumption where her strong and devout Catholic faith carried her throughout her life. Mrs. Dural was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; her passion was caring for her family. She was a wonderful cook, always cheerful and full of compliments that drew so many people to her. Mrs. Dural worked as a sales associate for the K-Mart Department store for over 10 years, until her retirement in 1987.

She is survived by devoted daughters, Sharon Knapp and her husband, David of Ansonia (with whom she made her home) and Kathleen DiMario and her husband, Carl of Wallingford; cherished grandchildren, David F. Knapp and Jessica L. Knapp, both of Ansonia; sisters, Frances Jacewicz of Naugatuck, Alice Winnick of Derby, Jane Kuzas of Southbury, Paula Nowakowski of Niantic and Margaret “GeeGee” Petro of Long Island, N.Y.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, she was predeceased by brothers, John and Stanley Petro and sisters, Sophie Dutra and Cecelia “Toots” Moran.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of the Bishop Wicke Health Center, especially those in Pavilion 4 for the compassionate care extended to Mabel.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff St., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m.
