SHELTON — Helen Kuncik, 89, of Shelton died peacefully in her home on Dec. 26, 2012, with her devoted niece and caring cousin by her side. Born in Shelton on July 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Kuncik and Milka Yurchak Kuncik.

Ms. Kuncik graduated in 1941 from Shelton High School. Being a talented artist by nature, she worked as an artistic tracer for the Koppel Photo Engraving Co. for over 40 years before her retirement. A woman of great faith, Ms. Kuncik was a devout, lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia and godmother to many. Helen was strong and selfless. She cared deeply for her family, was always concerned for the well being of others and was always there to provide for their needs.

She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as “Tete,” Audrey Sokol of Shelton, with whom she resided, Helene (Paul) Cass of Maine, William (Cheryl) Kuncik, Jr. of Massachusetts, Stephen (Kathy) Kuncik, Jr. of New Hampshire, Beverly (Paul) Skibo of Prospect; cherished great-niece and nephew, Maura Cass of California and Blake (Ivy) Cass of Maryland, as well as seven other great nieces and great nephews.

Ms. Kuncik was predeceased by a sister, Mary Sokol, and brothers, William, Stephen and twin Peter Kuncik.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at 9 a.m. from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m., Panikhida at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Preservation Fund of Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
