Helen Romaine (Farkas) Karlak

SEYMOUR — Helen Romaine (Farkas) Karlak, 91, of Seymour, the beloved wife of 62 years of Andrew M. Karlak, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Eynon, Pa., on Jan. 1, 1921, the beloved daughter of the late Stephen and Veronica Leskosky Farkas. Helen was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd of Seymour. She loved being with her family and cooking. Helen enjoyed senior center trips (Las Vegas, Atlantic City); the church trip to Europe with Father Edward S. Jaksina (“special”) also bingo, card games and going to Southford Falls in Oxford.

Her loving family in addition to her beloved husband Andrew includes her devoted son Michael (Martha) Karlak of Seymour; caring daughter Karen (Fred) Oko, Sr. of Seymour; her brother Peter Zadzura of Throop, Pa., and her sister Dorothy Balkan of Bridgeport; seven cherished grandchildren; seven cherished great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her nine other siblings.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10 a.m. directly at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment in the family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, will follow. Friends and relatives may call on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Route 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour from 5 to 8 p.m.
