NAUGATUCK — Barbara Anne (Gauthier) Ryan, 69, of Naugatuck, died Tuesday evening at the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by her entire family. She was the beloved wife of John “Jack” V. Ryan.

Barbara was born on Sept. 19, 1942 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Milo J. and Molly E. (Distefano) Gauthier. She was a graduate of Sprague School, Waterbury Catholic High School and Post University where she earned a degree in accounting. Barbara worked for over 25 years as a junior accountant for DeAngelis, Lombardi & Kelly CPA’s. Barbara was an active parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect where she was also a Eucharistic minister. Barbara enjoyed gardening and always looked forward to traveling to Florida with her husband as well as her Thursday lunch with her girlfriends. She was always happiest when spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Besides her loving husband, Jack of 47 years, she leaves her four children and their families to honor and cherish her memory; daughters, Dr. Mary A. McGinn and her husband Thomas of Florida and Catherine M. Ryan and her husband Carlos Santos of Waterbury; her sons, John V. Ryan Jr. and his wife Donna of Waterbury and James J. Ryan and his wife Christine of Naugatuck. She also leaves her brother Henry J. Gauthier and his wife Elaine of Georgia as well as her eight grandchildren, Ashley Ryan, John Ryan III, Katelyn McGinn, Kenneth Ryan, Ryan McGinn, Thomas Ryan, Michele Ryan and Emily Santos. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ryan will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Casey-O’Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St., Waterbury to St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect for a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m.
