PROSPECT — Mr. Donald A. Dubay, 91, of Summit Road, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on May 9. He was the husband of the late Blanche (Boisvert) Dubay. He was also predeceased by his first wife Mildred (Hughes) Dubay.

 

Mr. Dubay was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on Oct. 15, 1919 a son of the late William and Catherine (Michaud) Dubay. He was raised in Maine and had lived in the Waterville section of Waterbury before moving to Prospect 64 years ago. He was retired from Chase Brass and Copper where he worked as a millwright for many years and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Prospect. He served as a constable for the Town of Prospect during late 1960’s and enjoyed playing cribbage, playing cards, caring for animals and spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Dubay was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the 4th Armored Division during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart after being wounded in action in France. He was also the oldest member of the Prospect V.F.W. Post 8075.

Mr. Dubay is survived by two daughters: Susan Reilly and her husband Gene of Prospect, with whom he lived, and Elizabeth Pronovost and her husband Thomas of San Antonio, Texas, three sons; Armand Boisvert and his wife Janet of Cheshire, Donald W. Dubay and his wife Beverly of Nova Scotia and Paul Dubay of Hopkin, Minn., two sisters: Shirley Bobok of Cheshire and Theresa Favale of Henderson, Nev., three grandchildren: Aimee Boisvert, Jason Pronovost and Jennifer Jensen and several nieces and nephews .

The funeral will be held on Monday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Prospect, to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect, for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, May 15, from 4 to 7 p.m.
