NAUGATUCK- Mr. C. David Widman, 66, lost his battle with lung cancer on Dec. 24, 2010, under the loving care of his family and the Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
Dave was born March 31, 1944 in Detroit Michigan, the son of June and Arthur P. Widman, and brother to the late Arthur F. Widman of Portland, Oregon. In 1993 Dave moved from Portland, Oregon to Waterbury, CT, where most recently he was employed by the Home Depot, a member of the home services team specializing in windows and siding. Throughout his life he sold products for many different companies, but he had a passion for history which led him to be a teacher for a short while in Oregon. His love of food also gave Dave the opportunity to work for and manage a handful of locally owned restaurants in Oregon. His dream was to one day own a white linen restaurant. Dave was an avid reader of history novels, enjoyed golfing, going for walks, and watching sports of all kinds, but particularly golf and hockey (the Detroit Red Wings).

Dave is survived by his daughter Amy, and son-in-law Jay; his grandsons Jacob and Maclain Lowe of Portland, Maine; his step-children Chris, Andrew, and Holly McGrath all of Naugatuck, CT; and his former wives Grace McGrath of Naugatuck and Diane Freelove of Scarborough, ME.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8 at 1pm at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
