NAUGATUCK- Mr. Albert E. Bridge, 78, of Naugatuck, passed away late Friday afternoon Dec. 10 at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 54 years of marriage to the late Mary Louise (Horan) Bridge, who passed away on Nov. 28, 2010.

Albert was born in Willsboro, NY, Sept. 15, 1932, a son of the late Peter and Katherine (Currier) Bridge and moved to Naugatuck in 1954.

Albert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a retired employee of the Cheshire Publics Works Dept.

One of his proudest moments was being able to attend his grandson James’ graduation from The United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC in 2007.

He leaves 3 daughters: Anne Maher and her husband Don of Westport, NY, Sharon Douty and her husband Ted of Naugatuck, and Jennifer Kabusk and her husband Jim of Prospect; his brother, Bob Bridge and his wife Joyce; his sisters, Betty Jacques and her husband Clarence, and Margaret Henrichs and her husband Bob and Dorothy Jacques; his 8 grandchildren: Kathleen, Jameson, and Lauren Maher, Erica and Thomas Douty, and James, Anna and Zachariah Kabusk his sister-in-laws: Elaine Bridge, Elaine Cote, Mary G. Bridge and Jean Horan and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant son, Albert, Jr.; his brothers, Stanley, R. Allan, and Anthony Bridge and brother-in-laws Thomas J. Horan and Arthur Jacques.

A memorial service will be held Dec. 13, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow Street.  Burial will be private in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck with full military honors.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Soldiers, Sailors & Marines Fund, 55 West Main Street, Suite 150, Waterbury, 06702, or the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, 06708.
