SOUTHBURY — Walter Montini, 88, the husband of Gina (Marsiglia) Montini, died peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 at Waterbury Hospital.

Walter was born on Sept. 28, 1928 in Patrica, Italy, the son of the late Luigi and Paolina (Piatrina) Montini, and had lived in Southbury for the past 36 years. Walter was a U. S. Army veteran, having proudly served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Walter earned his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and he retired from Tetley USA, Inc., where he worked as a cost accounting manager.

In addition to his beloved wife Gina, Walter is survived by his son, Robert Montini; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Karen Montini; his grandchildren, Jovanna, Laqual, Lexi and Milana; his great-grandson, Evan; his sister, Nina Marks, and several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. There are no calling hours, and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
