NAUGATUCK — Lona (Christensen) Caputo, 85, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Hjorring, Denmark on July 5, 1932 daughter of the late Christian and Ellen “Margrethe” (Christensen) Christensen. At the age of 16 she moved to Copenhagen, and came to the U.S. at 22. She worked many years for Uniroyal, and later for Scovill Manufacturing as a timekeeper. Prior to her retirement, she worked at the Southbury Training School as a health aid.
Lona is survived by a daughter, Diane Young-Caputo of Naugatuck; a son, Mark Caputo and wife, Judith, of Middlebury; grandchildren Elicia and Veronica Young of Naugatuck and Cory and Rocco Caputo of Middlebury. She also leaves behind her beloved cats, Coco and lil Babe.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.
