NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck is starting work on a state-mandated revaluation.

The state requires municipalities to perform property revaluations to assess the current market values of properties for tax purposes. The borough hired Municipal Valuation Services, LLC to do the revaluation.

Representatives from Municipal Valuation Services will be inspecting properties and collecting data through August, a press release from the assessor’s office stated. All data collectors and field personnel are registered with the Naugatuck Police Department and will be carrying identification, the release stated.

The release stated it’s important the company representatives be allowed inside properties to “attain accurate information to arrive at fair assessments.”

Assessment notices will be mailed out in the fall followed by a period to appeal assessments. For more information, call the assessor’s office at 203-720-7016.
