Obituary: Joby-Ann Morel

NAUGATUCK — Joby-Ann Morel, 86, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at Abbott Terrace Health Center in Waterbury. Mrs. Morel was born July 7, 1930 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Chase and Rachel (Meyer) Christian.

She was a longtime Naugatuck resident, where she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and had a career as a legal secretary, later serving as an AVON representative for many years. She was formerly a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society, Parents Without Partners, the Naugatuck Historical Society, the Naturalist Club of Waterbury and Club 48 of Naugatuck, and the Oxbow Square Dance Club. She enjoyed horseback riding, roller skating and dancing. She had also founded “Joby’s Journey,” which was a social organization that once had over 50 members.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen G. Morel and his wife, Rainee, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Brian R. Morel of Naugatuck; her sister, Margaret Minor of Smithfield, Va.; her grandchildren, Craig Regalado, Danielle Young and her husband, Brandon, as well as Leah Morel; her three great-grandchildren, Mason Lawton, Brianna Regalado and Tristian Romeo Hubbard. She is predeceased by her daughter, Dana Regalado; her brother, Gerald Meyer; and her sister, Barbara Thomas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 338 N. Main St., Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
