Genevieve (McDonnell) Litke

NAUGATUCK — Genevieve “Jean” (McDonnell) Litke, 85, the widow of Norman F. Litke, Sr., died peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Glendale Center surrounded by her loving family.

Genevieve was born on Jan. 24, 1932 in Pittston, Pa., a daughter of the late Genevieve and Leroy McDonnell, and had lived in Naugatuck for most of her life. Jean was a former employee of the footwear division of Uniroyal, Inc. and of O.G.I. and was a long-time member of the former Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Jean is survived by her seven children, Norma Lisieski and her husband, Philip, Jim Litke, Norman F. Litke, Jr. and his wife, Maureen, Jack Litke and his wife, Mary, Terri Meleschnig and her husband, Peter, Barbara Walker and her husband, Edward, and Thomas Litke and his wife, Cindy; her 18 grandchildren, Philip Lisieski, Jr. and his wife, Marie, Jennifer (Lisieski) Vernucci and her husband, Nick, Matthew Litke and his wife, Krista, Eric Litke and his wife, Michelle, Christopher Litke and his wife, Larissa, Brian Litke and his wife, Mindy, Rebecca (Litke) Kirsten and her husband, Wayne, Elizabeth (Litke) Burkman and her husband, Jeff, Kyle Litke, Meghan Hanley and her husband ,Carlos Montero-Luque, Joseph Hanley, Erin (Hanley) Schwartz and her husband, Patrick, EJ Walker, Samantha (Walker) Smith and her husband, Kyle, Benjamin Meleschnig, Jennifer (Adomelis) Ajero and her husband, Charles, Shawn Adomelis and Anthony Adomelis; her 14 great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Tigeleiro, Lauren and Lindsay Litke, Lillian and Nicholas Vernucci, Jakob and Sienna Kirsten, Emma and Ashley Litke, Cali Ajero, McKinely Schwartz, Sadie Lisieski, Jackson Litke and Evan Litke; her brother, Joseph “Bo” McDonnell and her sister-in-law, Claire Ardry. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was predeceased by her daughter, Margaret Ann, and her seven brothers and sisters.

Calling hours are Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a service immediately to follow at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
