Obituary: Emily Olsovey

BOYTON BEACH, Fla. — Emily “Millie” Olsovey, 94, of Boyton Beach, and formerly of Naugatuck, Conn. entered into rest on Saturday, May 20, 2017 peacefully at her home with her loving daughter by her side. She was the devoted wife for over of the late Joseph Olsovey for over 67 years. Millie was born on March 10, 1923 in Oxford, Conn., daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Herbik) Chanko.

Millie and her husband, Joseph were devout members of the faith and Bible study. Millie and Joseph always gave of themselves and were there to help a family member or friend in need. Over the years, they enjoyed attending fairs and golfing. Millie was an exceptional gardener, was fond of canning and cooking, and loved swimming, fishing and berry picking seasons.

She is the beloved mother of Jo-Ann Biggins and her husband, Douglas of Boyton Beach, and loving grandmother of Lisa Zanghi of Florida; she is also survived by several cherished nieces and nephews. Millie was predeceased by all of her siblings, Paul and Michael Chanko, Mary Zan, Irene Colburn, Ruth Borsos, Rosie Bioski, Anna Anton, and her infant twin sister.

Friends may greet Millie’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., Naugatuck, CT 06770 on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. Millie’s funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Grove Cemetery.
