NAUGATUCK — The borough’s community garden is coming to life with the help of a grant.

The borough received a $50,000 Farm Viability Grant from the state Department of Agriculture for the community garden, which is set to be among the features at Andrew Mountains Park located off of Andrew Mountain Road.

Public Works Director James Stewart said the money will be used for items at the garden, such as a chain link fence, signs and a water tank.

The grant is a matching grant, which means the borough needs to put forth $50,000 as well. Stewart said the borough’s portion will come from in-kind services and the garden’s existing budget.
