NAUGATUCK — Connecticut Water Company announced it will be flushing water mains in Naugatuck starting next week.
Water mains east of the Naugatuck River will be flushed April 17 through April 27. Water mains west of the river will be flushed April 27 through May 4. Flushing will be done Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The flushing schedule may be changed due to hazardous weather or unscheduled water system maintenance, a press release stated.
Customers may experience pressure fluctuations and discolored water. The release stated discolored water is not a health concern, but the company recommended customers avoid using the washing machine, dishwasher and other water-using devices until after flushing is completed and the water has cleared. If discolored water persists for more than a few hours, customers can call 1-800-286-5700.
