NAUGATUCK — The Route 68 bridge is scheduled to be closed this weekend for work that was expected to take place last weekend, the state Department of Transportation announced.
The bridge, which connects Bridge Street to Prospect Street, is scheduled to be closed from 8 p.m. on Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday.
The bridge is undergoing a $12.8 million rehabilitation project, which is expected to continue until November 2018.
The next stage of the project includes paving the newly installed concrete deck on the north side of the bridge and switching traffic onto that side, according to the DOT. The south side of the bridge, where traffic currently travels, will then be closed for demolition and replacement.
This work was expected to be done last weekend, but it was postponed due to weather delays, according to the DOT.
