BEACON FALLS — The town is hosting a ceremony on Tuesday to “officially” mark the opening of the improved Riverbend Park.

The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. at the park on Nancy Avenue.

The park was built as a small “pocket park” in 2001. Using money from a $100,000 grant, officials and volunteers spent the past several years expanding and improving the park.

The park now includes over 1,000 feet of riverfront, about 2,200 feet of improved walkways, a ramp with a water-break for the retrieval of canoes and kayaks, and low-impact lighting, a press release stated.
