BEACON FALLS — The town is accepting letters of interest from residents for eligible projects for a housing rehabilitation grant.

The town is applying for the grant and must demonstrate a need for the application.

The grant is administered by the state Department of Housing. The program provides interest-free, deferred-payment home improvements loans to qualified low- and moderate-income residents. The loans are repaid when the home is sold.

The projects that can be done through the program include roof and window replacement, lead paint removal and electrical system upgrades. The grant will provide funding for about 12 projects on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligible applicants must be up to date on their municipal taxes, have 10 percent equity in their home and meet income requirements.

Applicants can fill out a letter of interest through a link on the town’s website, www.beaconfalls-ct.org, under “Town News.” The deadline to submit a letter of interest is March 31.
