Obituary: Charles E. Pruitt

NAUGATUCK — Charles E. Pruitt, 79, of Naugatuck, died Jan. 25, 2017. He was born Aug. 26, 1937 to Hattie and David Pruitt in McCaysville, Ga. He grew up in Connecticut with his three siblings, Edna, Gary and Teresa ,who survive him.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years as an interior communications electrician. After his service he went on to work for PTA and HPM traveling all over the world and the U.S. His passions included traveling, hunting, shooting and telling jokes to make people laugh. In 2016 he came to live with his daughter Janis in Virginia, where he spent his final months.

He is survived by his three daughters, JeanAnn (Adam) of Haslet, Texas, Janis (Charlie) of Virginia Beach, Va., and Cindy (Dan) of Mooresville, N.C. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Melissa, John, Jessalyn, Keith and Kailey; and nine great grandchildren, Dutch, JJ, Ryleigh, Ava, Aubree, Kaylyn, Tyler, Autym, and James.

Mr. Pruitt’s family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for all of its support and guidance in keeping him home during his final days.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 at Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 N. Main St., Naugatuck, CT 06770.
