Youth group sleeping out to raise awareness

PROSPECT — The Prospect Congregational Church’s Youth Group is holding its annual Homeless Awareness Sleepout this weekend.

Members of the group will spend 24 hours from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday “living” in the traffic island on Center Street in front of Town Hall. The event is an effort to raise awareness about homelessness. The group will also be collecting donations of canned goods donations and money to support the homeless community in the greater Waterbury area.
