Thaddeus Fabian Kadziewicz

Thaddeus Fabian Kadziewicz, the beloved husband of Johanna (Patronik) Kadziewicz, known to his family and friends as Ted, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at the age of 92. Ted was born on April 2, 1924 in Waterbury.

The eldest son of the late Anthony and Bronislawa (Gladkowski) Kadziewicz, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving overseas during World War II. He also served as commander and chief of the Polish Legion of American Veterans (PLAV) for many years.

Ted loved his wife Johanna whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage. Together they had four loving daughters, Carol and her husband, Don Hopkins, of Arizona, Johanna and her husband, Richard Pfeiffer, of Florida, Regina Sanchez of Windsor, and Janina Kean of Sharon. He adored his two grandchildren, Cassandra Sanchez of Shelton and Joseph Sanchez of Windsor. He is also survived by his brother, Edmund and his wife, Patricia Kadziewicz, of Waterbury.

Ted worked for 44 years at Waterbury Farrell Foundry in Cheshire. When he retired he took on a part-time job at a small business in Thomaston, where his humor was enjoyed by the office staff. Ted enjoyed watching TV, which he said was the best invention in the world. His favorite foods included Pierogi, which his daughter Johanna made for him throughout the year, and tomato soup cake that his daughter Regina made sure he had at every birthday and Christmas.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 at 10 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 86 East Farm St., Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm.
