WATERTOWN — Ruth M. Ryan, 92, formerly of Prospect and the widow of Joseph F. Ryan, died peacefully on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 at the Village at East Farms.

Ruth was born in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Alphonse “Pete” and Elizabeth (Cleary) Pelletier, and grew up in Waterbury where she graduated from Wilby High School in 1942. Ruth lived in Prospect for most of her life and she worked as a secretary for 16 years at Lombard Bros. Ruth formerly belonged to the East End Senior Center and the Ladies Guild of St. Leo the Great Church.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Robert Ryan and his wife, Anita, of Waterbury, and Gerry Ryan and his wife, Nancy, of Watertown; her grandchildren, Donna Lopez and her husband, Ray, of Prospect, Megan Teardo of Watertown and Kara Ryan and her fiancé, Christopher Barone, of Morris; her great-grandchildren, Jenny, Michael, Gabrielle, Ryan, Andrew, Emma and Lily.

Ruth’s family would like to thank everyone at the Village at East Farms, and especially the staff at the Atrium.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Church, 14 Bentwood Drive, Waterbury. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
