PROSPECT — Richard D. Fiske, 65, of Prospect, the beloved husband of Margaret (Keefe) Fiske, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 14, 2017. Born in Waterbury on Nov. 5, 1951, son of the late John Fiske and Laura (Gagnon) Fiske, Richard attended Prospect schools and graduated from Wilby High school in Waterbury. He also attended Mattatuck Community College where he studied criminal justice.

Richard served in the Connecticut Department of Corrections for 21 years, retiring in 1997. At the time of his death he was an active member of the Prospect police force having served that community for 44 years proudly answering call letters IC23.

Richard especially enjoyed his years as a Prospect D.A.R.E. officer and treasured his time in the classroom sharing his wisdom with the students. Ever kind and endlessly patient he will be forever remembered as an understanding and caring person.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife; daughters, Catherine (John) Ruszkowski of Oakville, Patricia (Kevin) Williamson of Bethlehem; and son, Richard S. (Maria) Fiske of Waterbury, as well as one grandson and five granddaughters. He also leaves a sister, Joan (Clyde) Davis of Boca Raton, Fla.; and sister-in-law, Beatrice (Bernatchez) Fiske of Taylors, S.C., as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Louis; and a grandson, Hunter.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Prospect Congregational Church, 25 Center St., Prospect. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery.
